Wellbeing and Engagement Facilitator
We are looking for someone who can live and breathe our values; To work in

Community Hub, 5 Leeming Road, Borehamwood, WD6 2TB
Ver House, Park Estate, Frogmore, St Albans AL2 2WH
Community Outreach Hubs/Cafes across Hertfordshire

Hours:
29 hours per week (9am – 3.45pm Mon-Thurs, 9am – 1pm Fridays), fixed term for 2 years

Purpose of the Job:
This role is central to the dynamic functioning of our Community Hubs/Cafes and
Healthy Hub services, with a focus on energy support, benefits advice, and holistic
community engagement.
We are looking for someone with lots of energy and enthusiasm to play a key role
supporting the Community Hubs/Cafes and Healthy Hub outreach services, being the
first point of contact for local residents who drop-in/phone in for services provided by
Communities 1st and partner agencies.
You will have experience and a genuine interest in partnership working to develop
service offers that meet resident needs in improving their health and wellbeing. You will
be comfortable and thrive working in an ever changing environment, understanding
the need to meet the expectations, key deliverables and performance indicators of
more than one key stakeholder.

Community Hub/Cafes
• Create a welcoming and supportive environment with a culture of trust so that
clients have the confidence to access the service.
• Provide an efficient, effective and user-friendly information and signposting service
to members of the public. Contact may be in person, by telephone or by email.
• Work in partnership to improve consistence and quality of services and also support
the development and promotion of a needs-led service model.
• Facilitate and direct individuals to additional resources such as Digital Inclusion
projects and budget setting courses.
• Understand the role of Communities 1st and promote the services with service users
and the local community.
• Promote voluntary work through a variety of methods to potential volunteers and
support colleagues with recruiting and retaining volunteers.
• Ensure that Community Hub spaces are in good order at all times
• Input patient/resident data into the Client Management Software
• Assist with contacting and chasing up with clients as required
• Maintain and guarantee client confidentiality at all times

Benefits and Financial Wellbeing Advice
• Act as a primary contact for local residents seeking assistance, providing a friendly
and informative first point of contact.
• Offer practical energy-saving advice, including tips on maintaining warmth and
home safety.
• Provide detailed guidance on social welfare benefits and Priority Services Register
(PSR) eligibility.
• Conduct one-on-one consultations to offer tailored benefits advice, aiding in
application processes and eligibility checks.
• Collaborate with other project components like Energy Agents to provide a
comprehensive support system.

Promote and represent the Healthy Hub
• Provide accurate information about the Community Hub to interested residents,
local referrers and other interested parties
• Coordinate research to identify interest and uptake for current and future activities
and events
• Work closely with members of the local community to ensure they are catalysts for
community development and at the heart of our movement for social change
• Support internal and external events to promote the work of the Community Hub
and Communities 1st charity
• Organising and delivering events such as talks, workshops and roundtable
discussions with stakeholders
• Building a network of well informed and engaged community groups and providing
ongoing support and advice to those groups

Other Duties
• Work as part of Communities 1st team in a professional manner in accordance with
policies, procedures and equal opportunities practices
• Work with people from a range of seldom heard groups and contribute towards a
positive equalities ethos
• In order to be responsive to the community and to be able to support the
Community Hub activities, you will need to be flexible, working some evenings and
weekends. Hours will be agreed on a mutually beneficial basis in line with planned
activities, with extra hours to be reclaimed on a TOIL basis

3.4 Previous experience as a charity front line or support worker or significant volunteering experience would be an advantage

4.1 Flexible approach to working hours. Able and willing to work occasional evenings / weekends

4.2 Ability to travel within the boroughs of Hertsmere and St Albans and occasionally wider afield
