Volunteering for Health (VFH) is an exciting £10m programme, delivered through a partnership between NHS Charities Together, NHS England, and the CW+ charity. Building on the recommendations of the NHS Volunteering Taskforce, the programme provides grant funding and tailored support to around 15 local systems across England.
A partnership bid led by North Herts and Stevenage Centre for Voluntary Services (NH&SCVS) and Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) was among the successful applicants. Partners include the NHS Hospital Trusts, University of Hertfordshire, local NHS Hospital Charities, VCFSE organisations across Herts and West Essex, the VCFSE Alliance and our Local Authorities to name but a few.
With bold ambitions to transform – or perhaps even revolutionise – volunteering across health and within our communities, we are now looking for a dynamic team of area Programme Coordinators to join our Programme Lead and partners, to help bring this vision to life.
Based in East & North Hertfordshire and working from Community Alliance Broxbourne and East Herts offices in Stanstead Abbotts, the local community, and with occasional working from the Lister Hospital, you will be bringing a passion for championing volunteers and volunteering across Hertfordshire and West Essex, alongside outstanding engagement and organisational skills.
There will be three other Programme Coordinators based in South/West Herts, West Essex and in the specialist Mental Health, Learning Difficulties & Neurodiversity partnership, with a Programme Lead overseeing the whole Volunteering for Health Programme in Herts and West Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of meaningful collaborative working across the NHS and voluntary/community sector to bring about real change. You will be employed by Community Alliance Broxbourne and East Herts, with opportunities to work closely with the Voluntary Services Manager in the East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust (Lister Hospital), as well as engaging with professionals and communities across the locale.
Essential Skills and Experience
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience in a related field such as public health, community development, community engagement, social prescribing, and/or the Herts and West Essex VCFSE sector.
- Proven experience in supporting and coordinating projects, preferably within the VCFSE, health or social care sectors.
- Experience in research, data collection and analysis to inform project monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience in engaging with diverse communities.
- Excellent project coordination skills, including planning, monitoring, and reporting on project progress.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously, working across different locations.
- Proficiency in using standard office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
